ConsumerCare

KBSA ConsumerCare Deposit Protection Scheme is only available to customers buying a fitted kitchen, bathroom, bedroom or home office from a current full member of the Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Specialists Association. A full member is one who displays a current year membership certificate. This insurance protection is underwritten by HCC International Co Plc, a specialist UK authorised insurance company.

In the unlikely event of your chosen retailer ceasing to trade, your deposit up to 25% of the total contract value paid (up to 180 days prior to installation) will be protected.

The following is to provide you with a guidance summary but does not contain the full terms and conditions and does not form part of your contract of insurance.

1. Scheme Administrator

The body responsible for administering the scheme is KSA Ltd trading as The Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Specialists Association (KBSA).

2. Insurer

The policy is underwritten by HCC International Insurance Co Plc (HCCI) a specialist UK authorised insurance company.

3. Premium

Premium for the policy is paid by the KBSA Member directly to HCCI.  You will not be asked to pay any premium.

4. Insurance cover

The insurance protects You against the following on Contracts with a Contract Price of up to £50,000 where the KBSA Member fails to commence the Installation due to Ceasing to Trade

Deposit Payment Cover – up to 25% of the Contract Price where the deposit was paid up to 6 months prior to installation.

It is important that You read the “What You are Not Covered For” Section of the Policy.

Remember You will either have no cover or restricted cover if Your Contract Price is greater than £50,000 or where Your Contract details are outside the range of cover provided in the contract of insurance.

The insurance does not widen or increase the protection given under your Contract with the KBSA Retail Member.  If the KBSA Retail Member is not liable under the Contract with You then neither is HCCI. However the insurance does give You protection in the unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances where the KBSA Retail Member Ceases to Trade.

5. Claims

If You wish to make a claim You should contact the Claims Helpline which is operated by KBSA (tel: 01905 621787).  The scheme does not provide cover for work carried out by You without Our agreement.  In most cases We will appoint another KBSA Retail Member to carry out and complete the Installation.

6. Complaints

Complaints relating to this insurance should initially be made to KBSA (tel: 01905 621787; email ccp@kbsa.co.uk) and then to HCCI (tel: 01664 424000; email customer.relations@hccint.com) and finally to the Financial Ombudsman Service (tel: 0845 080 1800). Full details of the complaints procedure can be found in the insurance policy. If your complaint concerns issues other than insurance then it will be handled by KBSA under their complaints handling procedures.

7. Insurance helpline

If You have any questions or need to speak to someone regarding your insurance please contact the Insurance Helpline which is run by HCCI (tel: 01664 424000). KBSA and their KBSA Members are unable to answer insurance related queries.
