Never over-fill them!! This will avoid smells, allow the lid to close normally and avoid damage when the door is opened and closed.
Chopping boards
Most quality chopping boards are supplied with a protective coat of paraffin wax, which must be scraped off before use.
Take care! Excessively dry wood will start to split and shrink. Too dry an atmosphere is to be avoided. If the wood swells this is because no tallow has been applied before use and the board has become impregnated with water. There is no remedy.
