Our FREE guide contains practical advice for consumers who are considering buying a new kitchen, bedroom, bathroom or home office.
Whatever the materials used, worktops will withstand ordinary
household activities. However this does not make them indestructible.
Cutting bread or meat directly on the worktop should be avoided at all
costs – always use a board.
Hot saucepans or dishes directly removed from the oven regularly cause damage to worktops. Again, use heat resistant mats to protect the surface.
Also to be avoided: leaving the corners of your worktop, sink unit or hot plate damp; mould will develop which attacks the damp proof seal.
