Metallics to be Key Trend in 2017 4
Jan '17

At Modern Homes it’s part of our job to stay on top of developments and trends. Customers value our advice and like to know what the market is offering when they are making their final choices. For 2017, we can confidently predict that metallics are going to be huge, especially in the kitchen.

With the ability to transform the ordinary into the extra-ordinary, introducing this look is extremely easy, as there are so many ways to do it. From entire kitchen units, through to accessories – go bold for instant impact!

Kitchen Ranges

If you’re sold on the metallic look, then why not consider a Cucina Colore kitchen from renowned British Brand Mereway?  Copper, Bronze and Pearl have been firm favourites for some time.  All of these provide a warming, sophisticated glow that is easily incorporated into a design to add an element of understated, cool lux.

The latest additions to the metallic range of Russet and smoky Gun Metal, add a touch of bold styling and an urban edge to any kitchen design.

The striking Russet Metallic works will when teamed with a wood finish such as Natural Oak. Bringing in metallic as a bank of units or a run of high level cupboards is a great way to add drama, texture and contrast.

Make a bold design statement with an island in Copper and team with light wood furniture in the rest of the kitchen.

Splashbacks

If adding metallic furniture is too bold, why not try adding an element of surprise via a splashback.  The more traditional alternative to tiles was always stainless steel but why not try a metal sheet in bronze, brass or copper.  These can be cut to size for a wonderfully sleek, no-join appearance. Choose from a high-shine reflective finish or a scratched and tarnished antique finish.

Appliances and Accessories

Finally, test the water by adding small hints of metallics in your appliances or accessories. Kettles, toaster, cooking implements or even cookers and fridge-freezers could be metallic.

How about a beaten-copper lampshade, or a gorgeous antique-look mirror in bronze? Perhaps some metallic tiles around the kitchen, or even on the floor?

We are certainly looking forward to adding Metallics to our designs this and looking forward to a brighter 2017 in the kitchen!
