KBSA - Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Specialists Association

Ensure you are protected in the January sales

12 December 2011

The credit crunch and the decline in the housing market has led to more  people deciding to  stay in their current home and improve rather then move. Homeowners looking to replace their kitchen, bathroom or bedroom with a bargain from the January sales should shop wisely and ensure that their chosen retailer offers financial protection, so says the Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Specialists Association (KBSA).

Many kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and home office retailers have significant sales in the New Year, with up to 50 % off many items. However the KBSA is urging consumers not to throw caution to the wind and take time to make sure that their chosen retailer is a reputable one which provides financial protection.

“It is a sad fact that we are going to see more high street retailers go under in the coming months.  Consumers who are caught up in the failure of a business usually have to endure a lot of heartache in order to recover their money and complete the installation of their kitchen, bathroom or bedroom,” says KBSA CEO Graham Ball.

“The current economic climate should make all buyers stop and think twice about the importance of dealing with a reputable retailer who can offer peace of mind and financial protection.”

The KBSA is a national trade association with over 300 retail members, all dedicated to upholding the association’s high standards of design, supply, installation and customer service throughout the interiors industry. All KBSA members follow an approved Code of Practice and are subject to strict monitoring to ensure continued professional service.

KBSA members also offer deposit protection in either a ConsumerCare Deposit Protection Scheme or a more comprehensive ConsumerCare Plus Scheme which covers the deposit, advanced payments, work-in-progress and a 6-year warranty.

Many KBSA members have also been approved to trade as a TrustMark accredited retailer via membership of the KBSA. This Government-backed programme is part of its ‘anti-cowboy’ legislation and helps consumers find reliable and trustworthy professional tradesmen to carry out repairs and improvements to their homes.

So, if you are considering investing money in a home makeover project this New Year, then look for a retailer who has association membership such as the KBSA to ensure faultless service, quality products, top class installation and added security from financial protection.
