KBSA announces CEO appointment and presents new way forward at National Members’ Conference

18 July 2008

The KBSA has announced that Graham Ball will take on the role of CEO after having acted as a consultant for the last eight months.  Outgoing National Chair Tony Nicholas made the announcement at the National Members’ Conference, which was held on 10th July.

“We are delighted that Graham has accepted this position, he has demonstrated that he has the necessary skills and wealth of experience of the industry to build the KBSA, making it bigger and stronger,” said Tony.

Graham launched a number of new initiatives and opportunities for members at the conference and said that the KBSA recognised that it had undergone a complete transformation but that a strategy was now in place to move the Association forward.

He said: “The KBSA is the only trade association that represents the independent KBB retail sector in the UK and there has never been a more appropriate and exciting time for members to re-new, and for non-members to join.

“We have reviewed all of our internal operations to improve services to members, substantially enhanced the benefits package and invested in a new brand and website.  Our priorities are clear for the future and the new services and initiatives that we have announced today are just the beginning of the next 30 years.

A new package of support from NAPIT was unveiled by Chief Executive John Andrews.  This includes a dedicated technical support helpline to advise members on technical issues such as Part P of the Building Regulations, the new Electrical Wiring Regulations as well as other relevant areas.  NAPIT will also provide the KBSA with a political reporting service and a voice on a number of central government consultation working parties that affect the KBB industry.

The new website service provider, Optima Graphic Design, presented the plans for developing the KBSA website and opportunities for members to gain more leads and traffic to their own sites.

Renee Mascari gave an update on the training activities of the KBB NTG and Stuart Carter from TrustMark demonstrated clearly how KBSA members will benefit from the recently achieved TrustMark status.

The formal business that was scheduled for the AGM that followed the national members’ conference did not take place because the required number of retailer members were not present as required by the KBSA Memorandum & Articles of Association, meaning the AGM was adjourned.

Tony Nicholas explained that the Memorandum & Articles of Association were extremely out of date and that they were currently being updated but a separate GM would have to be called to do this.  He said that a new calling notice would be sent out for the adjourned AGM meeting so that the proposed resolutions could be voted on.  This will take place at 2pm on 6th August - at the Alno showroom, 120 Wigmore Street, London. W1U 3LS.

Honorary Treasurer Phil Gibson presented a financial review and this was followed by an address from the outgoing corporate chair Barbara Leech.
