Kitchens International (Tillicoultry)
Upon walking into the space, you are met with a user-friendly kitchen that includes built-in seating and dining space, a moss wall, herb garden, built in pesto preparation and store space, and all the required appliances. Taking on bored the client’s requirements, the island has no breakfast bar, instead, off the island is a nature inspired dining table designed by Tom Faulkner. I have designed the space using Dekton worktop material, Laurent, because this man-made quartz is highly scratch resistant, stain resistant, heat resistant, easy to clean and extremely hard wearing. This will allow the end user to experience over 25 years of this premium product.
This contemporary design fosters an atmosphere that alludes to a sense of well-being. The use of the moss wall, herb garden and space for potted plants draws the outdoors through the large sliding doors and into the space. These biophilic features improve the air quality, absorbing harmful substances while releasing water vapor that helps with allergens and respiratory illnesses. The use of strip lighting within the ceiling and down between the units, centers the American fridge freezer, making it a focal point within the space. This innovative feature draws your eye through the kitchen and dining area with clean cut lines.
Attention to detail is very important to me as a designer and I love to keep the client’s daily routine and hobbies in mind to ensure full functionality of the space. As the client enjoys making Pesto for the farmers market, I have specifically designed a Pesto making station. This ‘Pesto Station’ is located on the left-hand side of the fridge freezer. Using a slide n’ hide unit will allow its user to open the unit and slide the doors out of the way while in use. Inside this innovative unit there are shelves and drawers to store the equipment, jars, and labels as well as prep space.
Keeping this contemporary style in mind, I have designed a stunning family space just off the kitchen. This space has a softer vibe with the use of comfortable furniture and soft furnishing. This space includes a media wall featuring a second moss wall for air quality, glass units to display any awards the client might have won at the farmers market for their outstanding pesto recipe, and staggered media units with shelving.
This breathtaking design ticks off all the boxes in the design brief, ensuring full functionality and meeting high client expectations.
