The Worktop Fabricators Federation (WFF) serves as a dedicated community for UK fabricators, committed to developing elevated standards within the industry. Our members undergo a thorough audit process to ensure that they consistently demonstrate compliance with, and often exceed, established industry benchmarks.
A principal aim of the Federation is to equip KBB designers with detailed knowledge regarding material properties. By doing so, we strive to ensure that end users develop informed expectations while enabling designers to create robust solutions from the outset. This proactive approach mitigates frequent issues stemming from insufficient planning and a lack of consumer understanding about material selection and characteristics.
Additionally, we acknowledge the critical importance of proper furniture installation before templating, which plays a significant role in maintaining material integrity and adequate surface support. These foundational steps can substantially reduce the necessity for rework during templating and subsequent installation. Common yet essential practices – such as verifying level furniture and incorporating appropriate supports like battens for weight-bearing surfaces – are frequently overlooked. Our overarching objective is to promote a ‘right first time’ methodology across the sector, reflecting enhanced professionalism while also increasing the profitability of the business involved.
Moreover, we are committed to informing both designers and end users about the benefits of engaging with reputable fabrication businesses, particularly WFF members. This distinction highlights organisations that prioritise safety and quality, distinguishing them from less scrupulous operators who may compromise industry standards and endanger reputations through unsafe handling practices, exposure to RCS dust, non-existent warranties and guarantees.
Our online directory details all our members, and should your supplier not be a current WFF member, we would be happy to discuss the benefits of joining and being a fully qualified fabricator. However, as a KBSA partner, we can offer your suppliers, whether WFF members or not, an audit of their production methods to help advise industry compliance, ultimately protecting your own reputation.
