One of the project’s key challenges was working with the existing flooring. Rather than letting it limit the design, our designer used it as an opportunity to innovate. A large L-shaped island was introduced, cleverly covering the floor joint while becoming the focal point of the room. A built-in herb garden was seamlessly integrated between two worktop pieces, bringing a natural touch to the space while keeping fresh ingredients within easy reach.
With nearly 8 meters of width to work with, I ensured the design felt inviting rather than overwhelming. Instead of filling the entire space with black cabinetry, a bronze mirror-clad back wall and oak shelving were introduced, adding warmth, depth and a touch of understated elegance. The copper sink and tap tied these elements together, complementing the subtle copper veining throughout the polished worktops. Thoughtfully placed, warm-toned under-shelf lighting enhanced the ambience and created a place for carefully chosen décor.
