This was the case for Joanne and Mark, when they came to choosing a new kitchen for their extension. With their heart set on an expensive display, we were able to provide a kitchen they loved at a price they could afford. We also helped them extend their original budget of just £14,000 to incorporate the best quality appliances that they wanted (Siemens IQ series) and bring the complete kitchen in at under £20,000. The extension is a generous space and the family were looking for their kitchen to provide a lot in terms of relaxed seating area, laundry and utility, as well as a spacious kitchen for the family. They also wanted to incorporate a few existing items, such as dining table and sideboard into the kitchen design. Our approach was to make the design as simple as possible, with attention to design details to make the kitchen unique, and make best use of the space.

All of the external door and window positions were fixed, although there is plenty of natural light from the patio doors and skylight but it did leave one very long wall, which could have resulted in a run of furniture that was too large and unattractive. We solved this issue by breaking this wall into two distinct areas, with a central feature incorporating two side by side ovens. One side is the traditional kitchen area with a sink and the other is home the laundry area. The laundry area is located by an internal door that leads into the room, for ease of use. We specified cost effective solution of freestanding washing machine and dryer which sites behind two full height cupboards. Both areas have attractive copper mirrored splashbacks, with set back wall units in a contrasting wood finish, to provide interest.

The wall where the sideboard is placed is not straight so we positioned the island in an optimum position to keep the flow and create space for the dining table at the end of the island. We repositioned one of the internal walls to create the space for a soft seating area, which looks out to the garden view via the patio doors. Our client loves this kitchen and said: “We were completely blown away by the difference in approach when we visited Qudaus, says Joanne.“ Belinda took the time to find out about what we wanted from the kitchen and then designed a unique solution for us. This was in stark contrast to the ‘here are some products that fit your space’ approach we had experienced before.

Project Cost: £15,769
