With a young family and a major renovation project on the house to manage, the client was looking for an easy to use, sociable family kitchen that could evolve as they settled into the new house and the family grew.

They wanted something different but stylish and homely, with a touch of glamour in places. Once they had adopted the new softer colour palette, the brief was to keep it light and airy.

With the rest of the house in progress, we introduced the client to our interior designer so that they could explore a colour palette for the whole house and design the kitchen to enhance and complement this.

The colour palette of soft natural tones led to the selection of the warm wood, smooth Cashmere doors and the striking Dekton in Morpheus, used as a wrap-around as well as worktops. The Herringbone floor completes this theme.

The design focus was texture, heights, mixing materials to create the overall look but also add elements of glamour.

The island creates a focal point with its stunning wrap-around worktop in Dekton Morpheus, which offers different shades, reflections and flashes of colour, with a soft velvet finish.

The island has a raised breakfast bar which is used for social gatherings, eating snacks, and drinks.

The same Dekton is used on the splashback and the herb box which lifts the wall run of furniture that contains the sink. The sink run has a break front, which provides space for the herb box without losing any depth in the worktop and creates interest in the design.

A bespoke bar area is functional and fun. Hidden behind doors, the bar has an antique mirrored back with shelving and storage.

The kitchen is future proofed to cater for the needs of the family as it grows. The wall bank contains a steam oven, a combination microwave, an oven, and a warming drawer to allow for when there is more time to entertain in the kitchen.

There is a mix of handles and handleless. The handles are bespoke, a warm gold colour and slim design to match the soft tones.

The lighting has been designed to be flexible and enable the family to select the level to keep it soft for family use. The perimeter Halo lighting for example is a great backdrop to the family space.

The finish on the furniture is a soft touch, anti-fingerprint finish, which is practical and supports the homely and natural feel to the design.
