Some notes about my client
Mr and Mrs Allan are a middle-aged couple who live in the suburbs of Glasgow. They have 4 children, 3 of which live at home. Mr Allan owns various companies and Mrs Allan is a housewife.
They purchased this home in November and aimed to be in, in May pending all alterations they would like to make.
Their vision for the space was to have a ‘wow’ factor kitchen which worked hand in hand with the stunning view the room has, over Glasgow city.
Sum up the brief from my client
- Client required a designer to guide them and advise the right layout for the room
- Client wanted the ‘wow’ factor
- Wanted a casual seating area for weekday meals to seat 5 people
- Client didn’t want an island seating arrangement which would mean their backs were to the view
- Wanted the beams to remain a feature in the space
- Wanted clean lines in the kitchen but also loved curves
- Appliances to be at eye level and preferably not stacked
- Wanted to include an ice maker but didn’t want this to be a feature in the room
- Wanted a rotisserie oven
- Liked the original light shelve feature beside the window
Additional Information
These lovely clients were very happy to be guided and really were open to design ideas.
I felt in terms of the brief I was given, my design ticked all the boxes. Changing the orientation of the previous island was something which worked fabulously in allowing me to create the booth idea and really stunned the clients. Furthermore this allowed for an area whereby the family could gaze out of the lights of Glasgow but still feel they were in a cosy environment.
The colours were key in this space. The earthy walnut worked hand in hand with the beams, it did not detract nor did it over power. The subtle graphite colour complemented the walnut fabulously.
Agreed budget value for this project was £69,000.00
