I have created a light and spacious, classic contemporary living space for Mr & Mrs Bowler. By doing this, I have zoned the room into different areas to suit the clients needs of entertaining and enjoying the room inside and out with family and friends.
This family hub focuses especially on easy to clean materials in particular as requested in the brief. I achieved this by including satin silk shaker doors with Konigstone Quartz marble affect worktops with drop down gable ends which are easy to wipe down at the breakfast bar incase of any spillages! With the island being so wide, multiple cooks can use this space from prepping, cleaning, cooking on the hob and using the ovens, with appropriate ‘landing’ spots for hot pots and pans. I have also added a ‘drinks bar’ at the other end of the room for guests to grab a drink from lounging on the sofa or eating at the dinner table without getting in the way of the cooking in the kitchen. This incorporates a wine cooler and dresser type cabinets to hide away bottles and best glassware.
Lighting is always important in living spaces so I have reduced the ceiling height in the kitchen to create a lighting rebait to mimic the island with LED strips and pendant lights. I have also added glows of LED strip lights and decorative spot lights for ambience during dinner parties or even to keep on whilst making a cup of tea.
Because the clients like cooking, I have included a tall larder fridge and freezer with Siemens single oven and multifunctional oven with microwave and steam pulse. As the property has no gas, I have used a 5 ring induction hob with hidden Westin Cache extractor in the chimney breast. The island includes a dishwasher next to the sink for good ergonomics with an Abode Pronteau 4 in 1 tap.
The interior style is classic with a contemporary twist. I feel I have achieved this with light, in trend colours, fabrics and tried to bring the outside in with plants and neutral coloured accessories.
